David Smith  

Managing Director

David’s has spent a lifetime in the IT industry, some 40 years, during which he has lived through and worked with some of the most dramatic developments in technology. Except for a brief period where he owned and ran a scuba diving operation and travel agency based in Cairns, he has held senior management and director positions in some leading IT companies such as ACI, ISA, Oasis Technology and Tandem Computers. This extensive background has proved a fertile breeding ground for his latest venture in his own IT development company, ComTel Resources, which he formed in 1996.

His ground breaking work in the area of interface solutions has seen him take an active role in many key industry working groups and has seen him called upon as a speaker at several technology based conferences.

Sharon Hannaford

Established in 2003, Limetree is the Consultancy Division of ComTel Resources. Since its inception the consultancy has grown to service a varied range of tourism entities with the provision of marketing, corporate training, representation and promotional initiatives for national tourism boards, airlines, wholesalers and hotel groups. Limetree Consulting is led by Sharon Hannaford, a tourism and business professional with in excess of 25 years tourism management experience at senior general management level in both public and private sector tourism organisations. Her experienced as been gained in management positions with American Express Wholesale, South African Tourism Board, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Her achievements have embraced major successful brand and destination campaigns, government generated taskforces, staff and industry training initiatives and successful strategic marketing campaigns.

She holds a Masters Degree in Tourism Management (MTM) and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Grahame Thorp

Advisory Board Member

Grahame is a key member of our advisory board and is an active participant in many ComTel Resources projects.

Grahame is a widely experienced professional in the advertising, marketing and communications arena. He has been on the board of several multinational advertising agencies and has owned his own advertising companies.

His current client base includes national industry associations; automotive suppliers; and travel and tourism operators. However, his experience is extensive in many industry categories. Noteworthy amongst these are finance; fast moving consumer goods and the development of franchised operations in several categories. 

Through his company, Tantalus, ComTel Resources has access to all the resources, research and expertise in Australia’s largest media planning and buying company as well as many specialist marketing and communication companies.

Jason Davey

Senior Designer

Jason with 17 years experience working as a designer is the artistic element of the team with experience in a wide variety of projects and tasks from packaging, production of catalogues and brochures, through to designing awards ceremonies and websites. Jason essentially makes our clients look good. He is skilled in Adobe products such as InDesign CS3, Illustrator CS3, Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, Flash CS3 and Final Cut Pro. Experienced at all aspects of website construction including photography, illustration, retouching, design and finished art - he delivers the brilliance to our clients project.
